  1. is a third-generation cephalosporin, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, impeding bacterial growth. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone that targets bacterial DNA gyrase, disrupting DNA replication. We offer this product under the brand of Zoprox O  Tablet.

  •  It is indicated for treating respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
  • Effective against urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis, caused by susceptible bacteria.
  •  Suitable for managing skin and soft tissue infections such as cellulitis and impetigo.

  1. a third-generation cephalosporin interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting the final stages of peptidoglycan formation, leading to weakened cell walls. This impairment results in bacterial cell lysis and death, particularly effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone, Ofloxacin targets bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme vital for DNA replication. By inhibiting this process, Ofloxacin disrupts bacterial DNA synthesis, preventing further replication and causing bacterial cell death.

Absorption:

Its constituents are well-absorbed orally. Cefpodoxime exhibits peak concentrations in 2-3 hours, while Ofloxacin reaches its peak within 1-2 hours, with absorption unaffected by food intake.

Distribution:

Both components have wide tissue distribution. Cefpodoxime penetrates respiratory tissues, urine, and skin, while Ofloxacin distributes into various tissues, including lung, kidney, prostate, and skin.

Excretion:

Cefpodoxime is primarily eliminated unchanged in urine, and Ofloxacin undergoes both renal and non-renal excretion. With short half-lives, ZOPROX-O allows for convenient dosing intervals, ensuring effective and timely antibacterial action.

  • Avoid in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime, Ofloxacin, or related antibiotics.
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of tendon disorders associated with quinolone use.
  • Use caution and consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the fetus or infant.

  • Use with caution in individuals with renal impairment, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.
  • Patients with a history of seizures should be monitored closely during ZOPROX-O treatment.
  • Caution against the development of superinfections, as with any antibiotic therapy, and prompt action if secondary infections occur.
